Working here

Small, new, and not pretending otherwise.

There is no careers department, no headcount plan and no one whose job is to read applications. What there is: three kinds of work that would come off the owner’s plate first, and a real address to send a message to. If that sounds like the wrong stage for you, it probably is, and that is a useful thing to know from a page rather than from four interviews.

The work

  • Someone who is good on the phone

Remote. Part time to start, commission on what you close.

    • Call owners who have already been sent a finished site and have already looked at it
    • Answer the same four objections honestly instead of talking around them
    • Book the call, run the call, close or do not close, and write down which
    • Tell us when the pitch is wrong, because you will hear it before we do

You have sold something to a contractor, a shop owner or a tradesman before and you did not enjoy the parts of that job that involved pretending. Knowing the trades matters more than knowing software.

  • Someone who can write like a person

Remote. Project based or part time.

    • Write the pages and the articles a home services owner would actually finish reading
    • Turn what we learn on calls into copy that sounds like it came from a call
    • Kill the sentences that promise things nobody can deliver, including ours
    • Keep a plain voice across a site that is mostly written by machines

You can tell the difference between confident and salesy, and it irritates you when a page says nothing in four hundred words.

  • Someone who can build and ship

    Remote. Contract or part time.

    • TypeScript, Next.js, Postgres. Small codebase, high standards, tests that mean something
    • Work on the parts customers touch: the generated sites, the phone handling, the billing
    • Read the existing code before rewriting it, because most of it is the way it is on purpose
    • Own a thing end to end rather than being handed tickets

You have shipped something real to real users and maintained it afterwards. You are comfortable being the only person who understands a system for a while.

About money, and how to reach us

There is no salary range on this page because there is no agreed one, and printing a number we have not committed to would be the first dishonest thing you read about us. Bring what you would need. If the work is worth it and we can afford it, that is a short conversation. If we cannot, you will hear that quickly instead of after three rounds.

Send something you have actually done, not a formatted resume of adjectives. One paragraph about which of the three above you want and why is enough to start.
